Section 39 Projects as Printouts
A project-like element outside of any worksheet or handout may still carry
workspace, on itself or on its tasks. When it does, HTML output gives it the same print preview icon a worksheet gets, and previewing it lays out just that project across pages with the workspace expanded to fill them. In PDF such a project is typeset as an ordinary block, with no extra room.
The third project below has no
workspace anywhere, so it gets no icon.
Project 39.1 . A Project With Workspace On Its Tasks.
Show all of your reasoning in the space provided.
(a)
Find the derivative of
\(f(x) = x^2\text{.}\)
Hint .
Solution .
We have
\(f'(x) = 2x\text{.}\)
(b)
Now find the derivative of
\(g(x) = x^3\text{,}\) and explain the pattern you see.
Compare your two answers with a neighbor.
Project 39.2 . A Project With Workspace On Itself.
Explain, in a paragraph, why the workspace requested here is not visible on screen, but does appear in the print preview.
Project 39.3 . A Project With No Workspace.
This project should not have a print preview icon.
